How the math works

Revenue per visit = the sum of each payer’s share of visits × what it pays per visit. Each payer’s piece is its share × its rate, and the biggest piece shows which contract matters most.

The shares should add up to 100%. When they add up to less or more, the calculator also shows revenue per visit ÷ the share total, the answer as if they added up to 100%. Use it while you fix the shares.

Use paid amounts after adjustments, from your billing report. The example is a clinic with 45% Medicaid, 25% Medicare, 20% private insurance and 10% self pay, and the rates are example numbers.
