What the bridge line costs you

Free tool · Freight

Every hour a truck waits in the bridge line costs you the driver’s pay and the truck’s fixed cost. Multiply the wait by your trucks and your crossings to see what the line costs you each month.

Example: 90. Check the CBP commercial lane wait for your bridge, or type your own if your trucks wait longer.
Driver pay per hour plus the truck’s fixed cost per hour. Example: 65.
How many of your trucks wait on this crossing.

How the math works

Cost per truck = wait in minutes ÷ 60 × cost per truck hour. Cost for all trucks = cost per truck × trucks. Cost per month = cost for all trucks × crossings per truck per month.

A truck hour is the driver’s pay per hour plus the truck’s fixed cost per hour: payments, insurance and plates spread over the hours it works. The cost per mile calculator helps you find the fixed part.

The example is 4 trucks waiting 90 minutes at $65 an hour, each crossing 20 times a month. CBP posts the commercial lane wait for each bridge, so you can check Pharr, Laredo or Brownsville before you dispatch.
